  • 1Why GMP Pays $10,500 Upfront for Your Battery: ISO-New England charges utilities massive "Forward Capacity Market" (FCM) and Regional Network Service (RNS) transmission fees based on Vermont’s single highest 1-hour demand spike each year/month. Discharging 5,000 home batteries during that 1 hour saves GMP millions of dollars!
  • 2GMP Always Pre-Charges Ahead of Vermont Ice Storms: Whenever a winter blizzard or high-wind warning hits Vermont, GMP suspends peak shaving and locks all enrolled batteries at 100% SoC.

Green Mountain Power (GMP) Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) & Powerwall Lease VPP FAQ

Is it better to use GMP’s $55/month Powerwall Lease or the $10,500 BYOD Rebate to own my battery?

Buying your own battery with the $8,500–$10,500 BYOD upfront rebate PLUS the 30% Federal Tax Credit gives you 100% ownership of the asset at the end of 10 years, whereas under the lease GMP owns the hardware.

What happens if I move or disconnect my battery before the 10-year GMP BYOD term ends?

The BYOD agreement stays with the home or can be prorated if unenrolled early.
