Nebraska solar calculator

Live production from NLR (formerly NREL) PVWatts V8. Nebraska is uniquely the only 100% PUBLIC POWER state in the United States — no investor-owned utilities. OPPD (Omaha, default), LES (Lincoln), NPPD (statewide wholesale + Grand Island area), plus about 162 municipal / rural co-op utilities. Net metering under LB 436 (2009) uses two-stage compensation: exports OFFSET RETAIL within annual consumption via monthly banking (about $0.114/kWh retail offset); if your generation EXCEEDS annual consumption, the excess (NEG — net excess generation) is paid at AVOIDED COST (about $0.04/kWh, seasonal). For right-sized residential, almost all export comes through retail offset — this calculator models that case. Oversize past annual consumption and the excess gets avoided cost, not retail. Cap 25 kW residential; utility-wide cap 1% of peak demand. Retail among the LOWEST US (~$0.114). Federal §25D = $0 (OBBBA repeal). Sales tax (5.5% state + local, combined ~7%) NOT EXEMPT residential (~$1,300-1,500 added cost). Property tax DISPUTED — no statutory exemption; varies by county (NE rate is high at ~1.5-1.7% if assessed); verify with assessor. NO state income tax credit, NO SREC, no RPS. NO statewide battery rebate (LES Sustainable Energy Program may include battery — varies, Lincoln only). Nebraska Dollar and Energy Saving Loan is FINANCING, not an incentive. Typical solar-only payback 13-17 years on properly-sized systems. Defaults: south-facing roof mount, 20° tilt, 14% losses.

Try (Omaha), (Lincoln), (Grand Island) — any valid US ZIP for this state also works.
