Minnesota solar calculator
Live production from NLR (formerly NREL) PVWatts V8. Minnesota has full 1:1 retail net metering set by state law (Minn. Stat. § 216B.164) on Xcel (modeled here), Dakota Electric, and others — systems up to 40 kW, more protected than tariff-set 1:1 elsewhere. On top of net metering, Xcel customers can apply for Solar*Rewards, a production incentive of ~$0.03/kWh on ALL system output for 10 years — modeled here as a separate income line. (Sources citing $0.04/kWh are using the 2025 rate.) Minnesota has NO state income tax credit, but sales tax (6.875%) and property tax exemptions both apply, saving ~$2,000+ upfront on a typical system. Minnesota also has an active battery rebate program (Xcel $175/kWh up to $5,000; non-Xcel up to $7,000 via MN Dept of Commerce) — not auto-applied here, but real if you qualify. Defaults: south-facing roof mount, 20° tilt, 14% losses.
Try (Minneapolis), (Saint Paul), (Saint Louis Park) — any valid US ZIP for this state also works.
