Maine solar calculator

Live production from NLR (formerly NREL) PVWatts V8. Maine credits residential rooftop solar at full retail 1:1 via Net Energy Billing (NEB) on both CMP (~27¢/kWh, modeled here) and Versant (~32¢/kWh). Versant pays back faster because its retail rate is higher. LD 1777 (2023) changed COMMUNITY solar compensation only — residential ROOFTOP NEB is unchanged. Maine has NO state income tax credit and NO solar rebate (Efficiency Maine focuses on heat pumps and weatherization, not solar). Unusual: Maine does NOT exempt solar from sales tax — the 5.5% state sales tax applies. Property tax exemption is available (Renewable Energy Investment Exemption) but requires applying with your town. CMP's ~$27/month fixed delivery charge is NOT offset by solar. Defaults: south-facing roof mount, 20° tilt, 14% losses.

Try (Portland), (South Portland), (Lewiston) — any valid US ZIP for this state also works.
