Indiana solar calculator
Live production from NLR (formerly NREL) PVWatts V8. Indiana net metering is DEAD for new connections — SEA 309 (2017) phased out NM at all 5 IN IOUs by July 1, 2022 and replaced it with Excess Distributed Generation (EDG). Indiana Supreme Court 2023 (CenterPoint case) finalized that EDG netting is INSTANTANEOUS — no monthly buffer. Self-consumed solar still offsets full retail (~$0.16/kWh); exports credit at the EDG rate, which is prior-year wholesale × 1.25 and varies by utility: AES Indiana ~$0.039/kWh (lowest), Duke Energy Indiana ~$0.05, CenterPoint ~$0.045, NIPSCO ~$0.12 (highest, plus a separate optional feed-in tariff at $0.13-0.17). NO SREC market (Indiana has no RPS). Federal §25D = $0 for 2026 purchases (OBBBA P.L. 119-21). Sales tax (7%) EXEMPT on residential solar — saves about $1,700-1,900. Property tax 100% exempt on added home value. Pre-2022 NM enrollments are grandfathered (until 2047 or 2032 depending on date) — not modeled here. Defaults: south-facing roof mount, 20° tilt, 14% losses.
Try (Indianapolis), (Bloomington), (Hammond) — any valid US ZIP for this state also works.
